We stopped in the town of Taraçon for a gaufrette and a cafe au lait, and while we were munching our breakfast we got to see an effigy of the Taraçque -- a mythical half-animal/half-fish that is paraded through the streets one day each June.
We also visted the Chateau de Taraçon
On to Arles where we visited the old Roman coliseum, still in use today for bull-fights.
Vincent Van Gogh spent some of his wiggy years in a hospital in Arles. He did two of his most famous paintings while here. One of the garden at Arles …
And the other of his bedroom entitled "La Chambre de Vincent - Arles 1889.
During our visit to Nimes we visited the Carre d'Art as well as a Roman temple.
The Pont du Gard, a Roman aqueduct in perfect condition. Now with a light installation by one of our favorite artists James Turrell.

In the Corbieres region we spent one day touring various farms during the annual "Ferme en Ferme" event
. Monsieur Poudou shows how he uses his water powered mill to press ollives for olive oil.One of the Pigs from Elevage Fajacois--soon to become a delicately flavored jambon.
Jack and Beverley with our new found friends -- these fellas know how to make some tasty chevre.

We took a road trip to Albi to visit the Toulouse-Laurtec museum. Here are a couple of our favorite works (Moulin Rouge, La Goulue (1891) and; Monsieur, Madame et le Chien (1893))
